چکیده

In this paper a novel multilevel thresholding method is proposed based on selecting the consistent peak of correlation function over the interested histogram region. The histogram is separated into two more regions up to the cost function is reached minimum. In the separation process of the histogram, a novel dichotomisation method is used. In general, correlation function of an image histogram may have some peak points. In the method proposed by Yen, threshold is placed in the maximum point of the correlation function. In our proposed method not only the maximum of the correlation function is considered but also other local maximums are taken into consideration. The main contribution of this method is to evaluate the all peaks' location of TC function as candidate threshold location. These points may have some important information in the sense of segmentation by human eye. The proposed method has been tested on some set of images and satisfactory results have obtained.

A comparative performance of gray level image thresholding using normalized graph cut based standard S membership function

In this research paper, we use a normalized graph cut measure as a thresholding principle to separate an object from the background based on the standard S membership function. The implementation of the proposed algorithm known as fuzzy normalized graph cut method. This proposed algorithm compared with the fuzzy entropy method [25], Kittler [11], Rosin [21], Sauvola [23] and Wolf [33] method. M...

Multilevel Threshold Based Gray Scale Image Segmentation using Cuckoo Search

Image Segmentation is a technique of partitioning the original image into some distinct classes. Many possible solutions may be available for segmenting an image into a certain number of classes, each one having different quality of segmentation. In our proposed method, multilevel thresholding technique has been used for image segmentation. A new approach of Cuckoo Search (CS) is used for selec...

An Automatic Multilevel Image Thresholding Using Relative Entropy and Meta-Heuristic Algorithms

Multilevel thresholding has been long considered as one of the most popular techniques for image segmentation. Multilevel thresholding outputs a gray scale image in which more details from the original picture can be kept, while binary thresholding can only analyze the image in two colors, usually black and white. However, two major existing problems with the multilevel thresholding technique a...

Change detection from satellite images based on optimal asymmetric thresholding the difference image

As a process to detect changes in land cover by using multi-temporal satellite images, change detection is one of the practical subjects in field of remote sensing. Any progress on this issue increase the accuracy of results as well as facilitating and accelerating the analysis of multi-temporal data and reducing the cost of producing geospatial information. In this study, an unsupervised chang...

Cuckoo search algorithm and wind driven optimization based study of satellite image segmentation for multilevel thresholding using Kapur's entropy

The objective of image segmentation is to extract meaningful objects. A meaningful segmentation selects the proper threshold values to optimize a criterion using entropy. The conventional multilevel thresholding methods are efficient for bi-level thresholding. However, they are computationally expensive when extended to multilevel thresholding since they exhaustively search the optimal threshol...
